Market Closed in the Green Zone…ASI increases by 2 Basis Points
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed positive as the bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) climbed by 0.02% to close at 28,344.04. Market Capitalization increased by N3.42 billion to close at N14.81 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at 5.60%.
Sectors performance broadly bullish
Performance across sectors was broadly bullish as three out of the five sectors closed in the green zone. The Consumer Goods, Insurance and Oil and Gas indices increased by 0.88%, 0.34% and 0.11% respectively, on the back of buy interests recorded in the shares of Cadbury (1.40%) and Nb (1.03%); Aiico (2.47%) and Courtville (5.00%); Eterna (9.77%) among others. The Banking index (-1.18%) closed in the red zone owing to losses in Uba (-2.94%) and Guaranty (-2.64%). However, the Industrial index remained unchanged.
The NASD market closed bullish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) increased by 0.47% to close at 729.94. Consequently, Market Capitalization also surged by 0.47%, closing at N536.19 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume decreased by 99.96% while value declined by 99.78%. Investors traded a total of 10,650 units of shares valued at N253 million in 2 deals. Two securities traded on the NASD platform today; Wapco Plc and CSCS Plc.
