Daily Financial Market Report for October 15, 2020

ASI Closes Flat… Sector performance was broadly bearish

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed flat as the benchmark All Share Index (ASI) decreased marginally from 28,344.33 to close at 28,344.04. Market Capitalization decreased by N150 billion to close at N14.81 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) remained unchanged at 5.60%.

Sectors performance was broadly bearish

Performance across sectors was broadly bearish. Three out of the five sectors on the NSE closed in the red zone today; Banking, Insurance and Oil and Gas indices decreased by 0.74%, 0.45%, and 0.29% respectively, owing to sell interests recorded in the shares of Guaranty (-1.67%) and Access (-0.64%); Aiico (-3.57%) amongst others. However, the Consumer Goods (0.40%) and Industrial (0.30%) indices closed in the green zone due to buy interests in Pz (2.38%) and Nb (0.20%); Maybaker (0.33%) and Redstarex (1.23%) amongst others.

NASD Market

The NASD market was bearish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) depreciated by 0.16% to close at 728.74. Consequently, Market Capitalization declined by 0.16% to close at N535.31 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 3373.22% while value surged by 5012.12%. Investors traded a total of 156,295 units of shares valued at N12,947,712.00 in 13 deals. Two securities traded on the USI today, namely; Wamco Plc and CSCS Plc.
