Daily Financial Market Report for March 29, 2021

Equities market resumes on a Positive note…ASI Gains 71 Basis Point

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed positive as bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.71% to close at 39,493.37. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N145 billion to close at N20.66 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at -1.93%.

Sectors performance was Broadly Bullish

Performance across sectors was broadly bullish as 3 out of the 5 sectors closed in the green zone. Insurance, Banking and Consumer goods indices advanced by 0.56%, 2.06% and 0.19% respectively, on the back of buy interests recorded in the shares of CUSTODIAN (10.00%), GUARANTY (4.44%), WEMA (3.33%), MTNN (3.13%), WAPCO (2.56%), UCAP (2.34%), GUINNESS (2.33%), UACN (2.30%), UBA (1.47%) and DANGSUGAR (0.61%) among othersHowever, Oil and Gas and Industrial goods indices declined on the back of sell pressures recorded in the shares of OANDO (-6.06%) and DANGCEM (-0.44%).

NASD Market

The NASD market closed positive after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) increased by 0.69% to close at 730.93. Consequently, Market Capitalization also closed positive at N519.55 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume decreased by 43.42% while value decreased by 76.78%. Investors traded a total of 769,371 units of shares valued at N86.72million in 12 deals.
