Equities market closes on a Flat note… ASI loses 2 Basis Point
The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed flat as bears dominated proceedings in
the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) depreciated by 0.02% to
close at 37,898.56. Similarly, Market Capitalization decreased by 4.5 billion to close
at N19.75 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at -5.89%.
What shaped today’s market direction?
Today’s market direction can be largely attributed to losses recorded in large and
mid-cap stocks in Banking, Agriculture and Consumer goods sector. Some of today’s
market losers include: while OANDO (-8.51%), MBENEFIT (-6.98%), JAPAULGOLD (-
2.00%), WAPIC (-1.75%), GTCO (-1.34%), DANGSUGAR (-0.80%), UBA (-0.68%),
CADBURY (-0.58%), FLOURMILL (-0.17%) and UCAP (-0.16%) amongst others.

The NASD market closed negative after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted
Securities Index (USI) decreased by 0.15% to close at 753.76. Consequently, Market
Capitalization closed at N535.78 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate
volume decreased by 92.22% while value increased by 45.30%. Investors traded a
total of 3,279,427 units of shares valued at N85 million in 48 deals.
