The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Negative. The benchmark All Share
Index (ASI) depreciated by 0.63% to close at 38,567.26. Market Capitalization
decreased by 126 Billion to close at N20.094 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD)
returns settled at –4.23%.
What shaped today’s market direction?
Today’s market direction can be largely attributed to losses recorded in large and
mid-cap stocks in Banking, Industrial and Consumer goods sector. Some of today’s
market losers include: UPL (-9.79%), LINKASSURE (-7.81%), COURTVILLE (-4.00%),
SOVRENINS (-3.57%), WEMABANK (-3.45%), DANGCEM (-3.26%), FLOURMILL (-
2.30%), UNITYBNK (-1.75%), TRANSCORP (-1.05%), UNILEVER (-0.69%) and
STERLNBANK (-0.65%) amongst others.

The NASD market closed Negative after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted
Securities Index (USI) declined by 0.42% to close at 749.67. Consequently, Market
Capitalization closed at 651.60 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate
volume increased by 171.20% while value increased by 232.24%. Investors traded a
total of 4,191,061 units of shares valued at N85 million in 22 deals.
