Daily Financial Market Report for September 30, 2020

Bullish Trend Continues…ASI increased by 83 Basis Points

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed bullish as the benchmark All Share Index (ASI) increased by 0.83% from 26,611.96to close at 26,831.76. Market Capitalization increased by N116 billion to close at N14.02 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) closed at -0.04% from -0.86%.

Sectors performance was significantly bullish

Performance across sectors was significantly bullish. Four sectors out of the five sectors closed in the green zone today; Banking, Industrial, Insurance and Oil & Gas indices increased by 1.93%, 1.40%, 0.31% and 0.05% respectively, owing to buy interests recorded in the shares of Sterlnbank (4.9%) and Zenithbank (2.00%); Dangcem (2.81%) and Jberger (0.31%); Wapic(5.71%); Total (10.00%) and Eterna (9.60%); amongst others. However, the Consumer Good index closed in the red zone due to sell interest in the shares of NB (-6.76%) and Dangsugar (-0.80%).

NASD Market

The NASD market was bearish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) decreased by 0.26% to 733.74. Consequently, Market Capitalization contracted by 0.26% to N538.98 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume fell by 97.86% while value declined by 98.79%. Investors traded a total of 47,450 units of shares valued at N5,725,490.00 in 7 deals. Three securities traded on the USI today, namely; Wamco Plc, NDEP Plc and CSCS Plc.
