Daily Financial Market Report for March 25, 2021

Equities market continues week on a Bullish note…ASI Gains 53 Basis Point

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed positive as bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.53% to close at 39,293.14. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N108 billion to close at N20.56 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at -2.43%.

Sectors performance was Broadly Bullish

Performance across sectors was broadly bullish as 3 out of the 5 sectors closed in the green zone. Insurance, Banking and Industrial indices advanced by 0.81%, 0.60% and 0.07% respectively, on the back of buy interests recorded in the shares of UPDCREIT (9.80%), STANBIC (9.18%), STERLING (9.09%), VITAFOAM (2.47%), FIDELITY (1.31%), MTNN (1.24%), ACCESS (1.22%), WAPCO (1.20%), GUARANTY (0.48%), and UCAP (0.39%) among othersHowever, Oil and Gas and Consumer goods indices declined on the back of sell pressures recorded in the shares of JAPAUL (-4.44%), DANGSUGAR (-2.67%), HONYFLOUR (-2.50%) and OANDO (-0.59%).

NASD Market

The NASD market closed negative after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) decreased by 0.32% to close at 723.79. Consequently, Market Capitalization also closed negative at N514.48 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 16.70% while value increased by 162.92%. Investors traded a total of 401,920 units of shares valued at N47.54million in 6 deals.
