Equities market closes on a negative note …ASI loses 27 Basis Point

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed negative as bears dominated proceedings
in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) depreciated by 0.27% to
close at 38,545.30. Similarly, Market Capitalization decreased by 54 billion to close
at N20.09 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at -4.28%.

What shaped today’s market direction?
Today’s market direction can be largely attributed to losses recorded in large and
mid-cap stocks in Banking, Agriculture and Consumer goods sector. Some of today’s
market losers include: FIDSON (-9.80%), LASACO (-9.33%), MBENEFIT (-8.89%),
WAPIC (-3.51%), JAPAULGOLD (-2.00%), OANDO (-1.68%), AFRIPRUD (-1.56%),
FCMB (-1.25%), TRANSCORP (-1.09%), ETI (-0.96%) and DANGSUGAR (-0.28%)
amongst others

NASD Market
The NASD market closed flat after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities
Index (USI) remained unchanged to close at 746.12. Consequently, Market
Capitalization also closed at N530.35 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate
volume decreased by 47.05% while value decreased by 44.46%. Investors traded a
total of 909,339 units of shares valued at N18.49 million in 30 deals
