Equities market closes on a Flat note… ASI loses 1 Basis Point
The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Flat. The benchmark All Share Index
(ASI) depreciated by 0.01% to close at 39,201.33. Market Capitalization decreased
by 1.66 Billion to close at N20.424 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns
settled at –2.66%.
What shaped today’s market direction?
Today’s market direction can be largely attributed to losses recorded in large and
mid-cap stocks in Banking, Industrial and Consumer goods sector. Some of today’s
market losers include: AIICO (-7.69%), HONYFLOUR (-5.13%), UPDC (-5.08%),
WEMABANK (-3.61%), STERLNBANK (-3.23%), FCMB (-1.67%), FIDELITYBK (-1.29%),
UCAP (-1.23%), TRANSCORP (-1.09%), ZENITHBANK (-0.83%), ACCESS (-0.53%),
STANBIC (-0.51%) and WAPCO (-0.44%) amongst others.
The NASD market closed Negative after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted
Securities Index (USI) declined by 0.65% to close at 728.61. Consequently, Market
