Daily Financial Market Report for August 05, 2020

Equity Market Sustains Bullish Momentum…ASI Gains 16 Basis Points

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) sustained its uptrend as bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.16% to close at 24,882.04. Market Capitalization gained N20.92 billion to close at N12.98 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at -7.30%.

Sectors performance was significantly bullish

Performance across sectors was significantly bullish as one sector closed in the red zone. Oil and Gas and Banking indices advanced by 0.11% and 0.07% respectively, on the back of gains recorded in the shares of Mobil (0.92%); Guaranty (1.94%) and Access (0.79%). Similarly, Consumer Goods and Industrial indices increased by 0.01% each, on the back of buy interest recorded in the shares of PZ (3.66%); Wapco (0.43%). Conversely, Insurance index declined by (0.01%) on the back of losses recorded in the shares of Mbenefit (-4.55%) and Lasaco (-4.00%).

NASD Market

The NASD market closed bearish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) declined by 48 basis points to close at 702.08. Consequently, Market Capitalization also decreased by 0.48% to close at N515.72 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 1,082.27% while value advanced by 71.36%. Investors traded a total of 1.30 million units of shares valued at N7.09 million in 9 deals. Five securities traded on the NASD platform today and they include: Firsttrust Mortgage Bank Plc, CSCS Plc, NDEP Plc, UBN Properties and WAMCO Plc.

Bulls Sustains Dominance on Local Bourse…ASI Gains 31 Basis Point

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) sustained its uptrend as bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.31% to close at 24,841.94. Market Capitalization gained N39.55 billion to close at N12.96 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at -7.45%.

Sectors performance was significantly bullish

Performance across sectors was significantly bullish as one sector closed in the red zone. Insurance and Banking indices advanced by 2.70% and 1.58% respectively, on the back of gains recorded in the shares of Mansard (9.72%) and Aiico (4.71%); Zenithbank (3.67%) and Guaranty (1.31%). Similarly, Oil and Gas and Consumer Goods indices advanced by 0.23% and 0.07% respectively, on the back of buy interest recorded in the shares of Seplat (3.48%) and Oando (2.17%); Flourmill (4.00%) and NB (3.23%). Conversely, Industrial index declined by (0.03%) on the back of losses recorded in the shares of CAP (-9.94%).

NASD Market

The NASD market closed bullish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) advanced by 88 basis points to close at 705.48. Consequently, Market Capitalization also increased by 0.88% to close at N518.22 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 92.45% while value declined by 50.98%. Investors traded a total of 109,694 units of shares valued at N4.14 million in 9 deals. Four securities traded on the NASD platform today and they include: Food Concept Plc, CSCS Plc, WAMCO Plc and NDEP Plc.
