Daily Financial Market Report for October 2, 2020

Bullish Trend Continues…ASI increased by 57 Basis Points
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed bullish as the benchmark All Share Index (ASI) increased by 0.57% from 26,831.76 to close at 26,985.77. Market Capitalization increased by N80 billion to close at N14.10 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) closed at 0.54% from -0.04%.
Sectors performance was significantly bullish
Performance across sectors was significantly bullish. Four sectors out of the five sectors closed in the green zone today; Banking, Industrial, Consumer Good and Oil & Gas indices increased by 1.59%, 0.45%, 0.32% and 0.15% respectively, owing to buy interests recorded in the shares of Guaranty (3.39%) and Zenithbank (1.12%); Wapco (1.00%) and Dangcem (0.77%); Dangsugar (4.03%) and Honyflour (1.09%), Oando (1.78%); amongst others. However, the Insurance index (-1.70%) closed in the red zone due to sell interest in the shares of Wapic (-2.70%) and Aiico (-2.44%) and others.
NASD Market
The NASD market was bullish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) increased by 0.25% to 734.39. Consequently, Market Capitalization improved by 0.25% to N539.46 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume waned by 40.11% while value climbed by 34.51%. Investors traded a total of 28,420 units of shares valued at N7,701,275.50 in 10 deals. Three securities traded on the USI today, namely; Wamco Plc, NDEP Plc and CSCS Plc.
