Equities market Begins Trading week on a Positive Note…ASI Gains 33 Basis Point

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed positive as bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.33% to close at 40,573.31. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N69 billion to close at N21.23 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at 0.75%.

Sectors performance was Significantly Bearish

Performance across sectors was significantly bullish as 4 out of the 5 sectors closed in the green zone. Insurance, Banking, Oil and gas and industrial indices advanced by 1.38%, 1.81%, 5.35% and 0.35% respectively, on the back of buy interests recorded in the shares of SEPLAT (10.00%), UCAP (6.02%), ECOBANK (4.55%), UBA (4.27%), ACCESS (3.07%), WAPCO (3.03%), FIDELITY (2.08%), GUARANTY (1.32%), FBNH (0.69%) and ZENITH (0.33%) among others. While Consumer goods index declined on the back of sell pressure in the shares ofDANGSUGAR (-1.04%), HONYFLOUR (-0.77%) and GUINNESS (-0.50%).

NASD Market

The NASD market closed positive after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) increased by 0.37% to close at 738.59. Consequently, Market Capitalization also closed positive at N529.95 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 621.62% while value increased by 3,285.68%. Investors traded a total of 99,583 units of shares valued at N7.48mn in 3 deals.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed positive as bulls dominated proceedings in the market today. The benchmark All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.78% to close at 41,014.30. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N166 billion to close at N21.46 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at 1.85%.

Sectors performance was Significantly Bearish

Performance across sectors was significantly bearish as 4 out of the 5 sectors closed in the red zone. Insurance, Banking, Consumer goods and Oil and gas indices declined by 2.93%, 2.98%, 0.32% and 0.90% respectively, on the back of sell pressures recorded in the shares of WAPCO (-8.46%), GUARANTY (-4.66%), FIDELITY (-3.73%), GUINNESS (-2.91%), DANGSUGAR (-2.61), FBNH (-2.08%), ZENITH (-2.00%), UCAP (-1.85%), ACCESS (-1.85%) and UBA (-1.23%) among others. While Industrial index advanced on the back of buy interests in the shares ofDANGCEM (7.04%) and MTNN (1.61%).

The NASD market closed negative after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) declined by 0.51% to close at 735.84. Consequently, Market Capitalization also declined by 0.51% to close at N527.98 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume decreased by 25.50% while value increased by 86.63%. Investors traded a total of 504,750 units of shares valued at N8.77 mn in 10 deals.

Similarly, Market Capitalization decreased by N425 billion to close at N21.29 trillion while the Year-to-Date (YtD) returns settled at 1.06%.

Sectors performance was Significantly Bearish

Performance across sectors was significantly bearish as 4 out of the 5 sectors closed in the red zone. Insurance, Banking, Consumer goods and Industrial indices declined by 1.15%, 3.36%, 0.38% and 0.70% respectively, on the back of sell pressures recorded in the shares of CAP (-10.00%), DANGCEM (-7.39%), UBA (-5.75%), WAPCO (-4.87%), UCAP (-3.71), ACCESS (-2.35%), ZENITH (-1.94%), FBNH (-1.36%), GUARANTY (-1.22%) and MTNN (-0.56%) among others. While Oil and gas index advanced on the back of buy interests in the shares of OANDO (0.67%).

The NASD market closed negative after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) declined by 0.41% to close at 739.61. Consequently, Market Capitalization also declined by 0.41% to close at N530.68 billion. Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 1298.43% while value increased by 1707.46%. Investors traded a total of 677,540 units of shares valued at N65.57 mn in 10 deals.
