  • Performance across sectors was broadly bearish as 3 out of 5 sectors closed in the red zone. Banking, Consumer Goods and Insurance Indices declined by 0.53%, 0.58% and 0.48% respectively. Industrial Index advanced by 0.01%. While Oil/Gas Index remained unchanged.
  • Market activity measured by aggregate volume increased by 20.85% and value decreased by 8.95%. Investors traded a total of 234 million units of shares valued at N2.57 billion in 4,646 deals.

Profit before tax grew by 39.42% from ₦102.99bn in Q1 2021 to ₦143.59bn in the current period, despite a 28.65% increase in finance costs. Profit after tax rose by 31.28% from ₦73.75bn in Q1 2021 to ₦96.82bn in Q1 2022. EPS increased by 31.49% to ₦4.76 in Q1 2022 from ₦3.62 in Q1 2021. MTNN has a BVPS of ₦17.54, P/BV of 12.60x and P/E ratio of 11.61x.
